Introduction - the new microEXPLORER™
RIDGID® is proud to announce the introduction of microEXPLORER™, a new portable inspection camera which allows the user to perform and record detailed visual inspections of hard to reach areas.
The microEXPLORER allows you to offer more services and provides you the tools you need to detect and diagnose the unreachable.
How it works
The high-resolution aluminum camera head, with a water and scratch resistant sapphire lens, sits at the tip of 90cm cable that is reinforced with a waterproof vinyl cover.
The camera - easily controlled by buttons located on the top of the comfort-grip - can focus on a specific area using the 3x digital zoom and/or pan functions.
These and all other functions can be accessed through the menu driven graphical user interface.
The microEXPLORER Digital Inspection Camera can capture JPEG images and AVI videos of all live images that are displayed on the 3.5” color LCD screen.
The camera head is equipped with 4 fully adjustable LED’s to provide a range of super bright to soft light for any task.
Applications
The applications are endless. Any confined space where users can’t reach, see and detect the target by traditional means and need to capture images and record video of the ‘problem’ area.
E.g. a plumber who needs to send a picture of a leakage to the customer or insurance company, or a plant manager who needs to record video of a malfunctioning machine motor to send to an engineer for evaluation. Or maybe a car mechanic that wants to email an image to a customer to show the problem that needs to be fixed.

Each microEXPLORER Digital Inspection Camera comes with three separate accessories that easily can be attached on the camera head to make the microEXPLORER Digital Inspection Camera even more useful.
- Hook:
A robust J-shaped extension that can be used to tug, pull or pick up small objects - Magnet:
A small-but-powerful magnet for picking up metal objects in confined spaces. - Mirror:
A tiny mirror lets users look around corners in the tightest spaces
Optional:
- 9.5mm Diameter Imager Head:
Able to go into the smallest spaces, this camera head has one super bright LED light that allows users to inspect tight areas such as an engine's cylinder or compact hydraulic pumps. This accessory includes a 90 cm flexible cable and connects to the microEXPLORER the same way the standard camera does. - Extensions:
90 cm and 180 cm long extension cables can be purchased separately to extend the reach of the tool up to 9.7 meters. Cables can be formed to different shapes so you can get the camera head exactly where you need it.
